I can’t believe it’s been three years since we undertook the #plasticfreejuly challenge.  2016 was our first and really terrifying effort and obviously frightened any further efforts until this year, when it became the ideal opportunity to reboot our New Years efforts to focus on reducing and eliminating our waste.

It is really interesting reading back on 2016 and thinking WE HAVE COME A LONG WAY! It just goes to show how useful it is to journal.

I wrote an article about our plastic free July for the Evening Echo this year and it outlines our journey and the challenges presented by making change, the brain-bandwidth overload of finding new solutions and learning new habits, getting bored of not being able to buy everything on the shop shelves, refocusing and finally seeing our efforts come together and get a little easier.

(The image above is soap nuts – I loved them, husband started outsourcing his laundry to the dry-cleaners – they didn’t make the cut!)
